Wow.. i've never really been excited about anything like an expansion or whatever.. but this new one is totally kick ass. I love the original FFXI story w/ the three nations and all.. this is gunna rock. Yagudo are soooo f'ck'n cool. This guy is the man. Looks like an avatar. I hope he gets his own cable sunday show. Oh, look out! Don't lock Orcs in cage wagons when they have daggers! Wasp Sting those elves! The first 5 min to CSI: Elshimo. I know Musketeers when I sees'em. I bet that's Invincible Shield leading a team to glory. Yeah, he's the man. He'll take your mother to the prom. ... I am excited.

If you check all the new pics released on wiki or whatever site you'll see what T put up and more... some observations.. -- Dancer is definately a go, although only female character models pics have been released so far. There is one picture which shows a dancer using a dagger so that will most likely be their main weapon of choice. The job descriptions is available now as well... "With their aggressive steps, these thewy terpsichoreans would weave forbidden magicks upon themselves and their enemies, producing results rivaling those of even the most powerful sorcerous cants. The popularity of this profession reached its peak during the Great War, when dancers were common additions to allied army units fighting on the front lines." Basically it sounds like they are going to be more of a DD version of BRD and COR, possibly even leading to the assumption that some people are convinced this may be the new "tank" class SE was hinting at although I Highly Highly doubt this.
-- Looks like some new beastmen style mobs. maybe the new mob models are a "leader" type that lesser ones follow??? would be cool. Also new fly type mobs that look like a chigoe type mob. As for the fairy looking mob... my guess would be a new possible avatar, maybe another light based one more focused on buffs and healing, pure speculation...
As for the "updated/older" versions of some areas, are these instanced fields like dynamis used specifically for the story advancement or missions? How does this all work? The new "promyv/avatar realm" looking area looks cool, possibly another dynamis/limbus/assault type area or maybe the temporal link to the past?? Maybe all the updated areas/realm is all connected with a new battle field like besieged style? Lots of questions and cool things, can't wait to see how everything works ^^.

Seems like a lot of my thoughts and predictions are actually true for the new expansion... and i'm probably not going to be back in time to start it... The translated article on Wiki states that Dancers different "steps" are used for healing, debuffs and special effects which probably will produce a new kind of combo or skillchain type circumstance. Apparently dancers need TP to execute these steps and abilities so they are going to have to be up to par on melee ability. This could possibly mean they are capable of being a tank class, there's also some sort of "daze" effect they can use to addle mobs. In short it sounds like they are actually going to kick ass.
Scholars seem to be a bastard son of Oracle type and Elemenatalist type geomancer. They have natural basic white and black healing and offensive magic which when they use "Grimoire" (hasso and seigan type ability) to enhance and unlock more spells/abilities. Seems they will have a few new spells specific only to Scholar as well . Geomancer like status comes from what appears to be their ability to change a targets elemental affinity or to affect/effect weather or take better effects of weather bonuses. They mention a "slip damage" which may be like a BLM drown, frost, burn etc or maybe can enhance natural magic accuracy for those types or all types. Anyways obviously the extent to which the Scholar acts as a support class will be seen but it sounds good, maybe not realized for awhile but good.
The new "campaign" mode they have mentioned seems to be influenced by the weekly conquest tally or something similar to that effect which will determine where the new "besieged" like battles will take place. There also seems to be ways to influence how the battles/stratgies/NPCs all act/react. Or perhaps the battles occur at random incursion points but dependant upon which nation or beastmen has control they are much more difficult??? IDK but it all sounds damn cool. Lastly there are the "Cavernous Maws" which appear to portals to travel to the past, but maybe only for mission or new "assault" type???
There's also a pic of a male hume dancer on wiki....

Actually what I am hoping is that this has been set up like CoP was, meaning the missions are stepped (start a like lvl30 and then go up rather than just using lvl75 jobs the whole way thru like in RoZ), and it sounds as if that is what will happen.

...hoping for something like ::twitch:: CoP ::twitch:: is just plain evil! Although I must admit I enjoyed the particular challenges and coming up with new strategies to help get through.
I think the article mentions having larger groups available in an assault like mission but the level restrictions do not exist, so potentially you can do them at any level "cap" but it may adjust based on highest level in the group....
/sigh i'm just speculating too much because I can't play ; ;
P.S. The macro pallet will be expanded to 4000 buttons! Gobbiebag capacity will be increased to 70 items! Players will be able to invite people to their Mog Houses!

Val scares me sometimes... he probably ties people up and then dresses up as a Dancer and dance dance tortures them to death, being tall lanky and elvaan one can only watch him do the robot so many times before they expire...
