Ninja-less?

We have no main job full-blown NINs, but we have a decent number of /NINs (RNG, THF, WAR, ....).

Personally I'll probably never lvl NIN, I just don't see it worth anything. I'd rather have a PLD tank any day (or a WAR) than a NIN. Plus the dual-wield doesn't mean anything to me..... since I'm a MNK, I already have dual-wield.

I"m currently lvlin nin and i like it a lot, if i can find a way to deal /w the money problems i may take it far. Plus I look so damn cool in the nin armor ;D

even though this topic is old as hell... lol With my mad skillz ninja is now 36 and i'm gonna see how i like it at 37 with uts: Ni and if i do like it then as much as i like it now i'm gonn level it up right along with thf.

even with the new patch, my NIN currently lvl 37, easily held hate even with me loosing shadows. The reason to this is probably I spent a hell of alot probably about 500k on lvl 35ish gear to up my strength and evasion, and because I am a Elvaan. Elvaan already have strength up the ass, plus the strength + gear I had, holding hate was nothing, I was doing more than most melees in my pt, usually 20-25 per hit and 30ish with beserk. over all Ninja I think is one of the funnest jobs out there, you just have to have a big wallet to do it. now using other tools before the lvl 40 Ni scrolls isnt a good idea b/c they usually only did from 5-15 dmg for me, but if you have a blm then yes it is worth it. Only spells id say to use pre 40 is Kurayami which blinds the mob(most pts im in around lvl 30 the mages wont), Hojo: ichi, which lowers attack speed of mob, very helpful when casting utsusemi, and Jubaku: Ichi which paralyzes the mob. After SAM is 75 I hope to take NIN to at least 60 If my wallet doesnt break, and possible to 75. This job is just full of surprises just waiting for me to find. And I'll always show up Shash in everything remember that... except drk he can have that.

OMG can some1 plz tell me what the hell im doing wrong. im lvl 42 and all of a sudden. My party is tellin me im not doing my job right. They saying some thing that i have to cast Ichi then cast Ni then remove Ichi recast Ni??? Idk what the hell they talking about. I think i'm done with nin.; ;

I think the issue is that Utsusemi: Ni and Utsusemi: Ichi do not stack. Which, as I understand it, means you need to cancel one as you cast the other in order for the shadows to stick. I.e. if you cast Ni when you still have a shadow from Ichi remaining, the Ni has no effect, and then once the remaining shadow from Ichi is gone, you can't cast Ni again in time. I can only theorize, as my NIN is only level 27, but I think I remember previous NINs in my party having that discussion.

i understand the whole Ichi before Ni but its counting your shadows as they are used to know when to recast Ichi and remove Ni. The DRK was layin there dead cause im countin shadows and shit not payen attention to voking. I ended up doing a worse job after they told me what to do then me just doing my thing and ONLY casting Ni.

Last I heard Ni overwrites Ichi, but Ichi does not overwrite Ni. So, you can cast Ni at any time without having to worry about cancelling shadows, but if you cast Ichi when you have Ni up you'll have to cancel Ni before Ichi takes effect.

Shadows from Ichi cannot overwrite that of Ni.
My practice:
I cast Ichi. When all 3 shadows have lost, I will cast Ni. Since Ni has a short casting time, no problem to be interrupted.
Once I casted Ni, I'd need to start counting my shadows. After 3 of them had wiped, I'd start to cast Ichi again. When the casting bar is about 40%-50%, I will cancel the leftover shadow from Ni. *Must cancel it before 50%!!
When I tanked Beetles in CN or doing BCNM, I seldom needed cure from mages. (Just need Erase for Evasion Down effect)

I dont count my shadows just wait for the the little icon to disapear then I cast NI or Itch right after the mob hits me. My nin is currently 42 so it really doesnt matter if I cast right after mob attack because they still attack kinda slow. But when I get to 60+ I wont be getting hit to much any way lol ima deck my nin out just going to take time. ; ;

Well my Nin is now 61. Yay! I have been working on it for a right good while. Rio and I are now the LS Nin! But I hope he lvls much further past me lol cuz ima be at 61 for a while. Finally got all my af lol after a few mistakes lmao (opening a coffer getting a map and not af ) But for the most part my nin is done ;D
