I have decided to star this ever long quest of fishing up 10k carps. So throwing it out there that if you have any carps you want to sell, send me a PM or a /tell in game as I will likely buy them off you because 10k will likely take me 90 years. Thanks!

I was crunching numbers at work today and I figured out that if you fish up 672 carp a week, you will have the Lu Shangs in 3 months and 3 weeks. Also if each fish took 1 min to fish up it would take a total of 11 horus and 20 minutes to reel in 672 fish. What can I say, I am driven and it is very slow at work......

Don't forget to factor in the fishing cap of 200 fish / day

What theres a fish cap? I think I might just lvl fishing and pay for one haha. I guess you could also do 60 fish per day and have it in 6 months, but if you stuck to it and really fished up 60 everyday.

I can't decide if that number crunch made it seem better or worse to fish for Lu Shang's...
I am around 18/10,000 I think. If I wind up fishing, I go for Moats, so I'll let you know Schwill.

Best bet is to fish moats while you are still gaining skill on them, after that point it would be wise to target gil fish to skill up on.
Sell the fish, use that gil specifically to buy moat carps. There you have it, still a fully fished up lu shang! Most gil fish will get you 2-4 stacks of moat carp per 1 stack caught, making it a much better investment in time, and also speeding up the Lu Shang quest.
Not to mention you will be at a decent skill level once you obtain it.
Nebimonite (cap 27) Bluetail (cap 55) Shall shell (cap 53?) cone calamary (cap 40ish)
To name a few, Don't let the skill levels scare you. You can start Nebs in your low teens, bluetail and shall shells in your upper 20s, low 30s. Calamary in your mid 20s.
Hard fatigue, maximum number of fish you can catch per day, depends on skill level and fish targeted. For moats 200-220~ sound about right. Once you reach the hard fatigue You have to wait til JPN midnight for server to reset (8am PST).
Also soft fatigue lowers your bite rate and increases item catches, this slowly builds up every 1-2hrs and is erased by simply zoning once.
Good luck with your Lu shang, best investment I ever made!

Wood rods - Drain stamina faster, fish doesn't stay on the line as long
Synthetic rods - drain stamina slower, fish stays on line longer
Lu shang - Drains stamina faster, Fish stays on the line longer (best of both in one rod)
Small rods - Break when attempting to bring in a fish too big/heavy, Catches small fish without problem
Large rods - Catch big fish, stronger and won't break. Chance to lose small fish due to "too small" message
Lu shang - Catches small fish without any problems, no "too small" message causing you to lose a catch. Catches big fish without breaking (specific legendary fish excluded)
Basicly lu shang has the bonus of all fishing rods, without the weakness that comes with the rest. It is an "all-in-one" type rod.

Hmm....thanks Kao, I might just continue to skill up and buy whatever available moat/forest carps there are. Seems a hell of a lot more fun than spending all my time fishing up fish that dont skill me up.
