Did you ever get more than one ore / harvest? As in more than one ore /10 pots.
Ive been doin lots of reading and so far i can only seem to get 1 or 2 ores per 10 pots. I tried to load as much of an element into the seed as i thought i could, besides spending way to much gil on furniture.
I started with planting on the day of the element i want an ore > feed same element > feeding same element again > harvest on any day. While checking 1-2 times a day
I think i may have overloaded them with the needed "element" so, I'm going to try to plant on a different day. Either the following day or the one before. Then harvest on that same day. If i get more than 2 ores i think ill be on to something.
Testing with my main and 4 mules BTW, so thats about 50 pots.

I used to do Ores, back in ye olden days of the world. Funded my blackmage when I was into that (and to give you an idea of how long ago this was, blackmage was still a "needed" party job)
Yes, I've had it happen where I got more than 1/10 ores. I only had three mules going then (LONG TIME AGO lol) and they were all on 10 pots. Once I got 4/10 on Nessus which I was very very happy about (considering ores were practically half a mil)
You can never spend "too much" gil on furniture. Have you been to my moghouse yet?
I gave up growing ores when the bottom dropped out years back, but if you're into it I would advise checking them as often as possible in addition to following the feeding rules of crystal and day. I always did the "strong against" planting day "same" first feed, "same" second feed myself, but that's just me. I tried to harvest on New Moons or Full Moons (I never did reckon which was better for the ores myself) and harvest on a "strong to" or "same" day.
The reason I stopped doing ores too, in addition to their value decreasing, was that they were just a little too high an investment with too unpredictable a result. I mean, one really good harvest could make up for two bad, but one only ok harvest still left me feeling like I was going crazy for little over-all gain.
At that point I moved on to Grain Seeds and growing Rice, which while less Bling factor, was at least consistent gil in the Sushi hey-day. Still not terrible gil today either, just slower and more consistent. Which is the all-powerful trade off of FFXI - if it's consistent, it's not impressive numbers except over time, if it's impressive numbers off the cuff, it tends not to be consistent.
There's been lots of gardening trends and my advice is to go with something you find you can consistently grow and sell at a modest to medium profit and build your financial empire on that. Gambling can win you big gil though - but it can also leave you asking yourself why you threw the dice.

I would go 1/10 or avg of 2.5/20 for my 20 pots... I did it for a little while..At the end I netted about 12 drk ores and about 5.5mill gil which was pretty good for a garden. it was all pretty much profit for me since id farm goobs and sale drops for planting materials... I had a friend who had about 20ish gardens going and made a fortune doing it who taught me how to run my garden...
Like nessy when the price dropped on ores the value vs the amount of time and effort didnt make me very happy!! Ores take forever to grow and to get stupid orange things instead!!!!
I plan to get back into gardening very soon like in the next few weeks, I still have my 2 gardens set up minus my 2 arcane pots. But most likely wont be doing ores ima look for a more consistent cash cow...But if after my reseacrch ores are the best thing to grow for me then ill be back in the ore business..

Good stuff. Thanks for responding. As far as "consistency" goes, i like growing ice ore, NQ harvest (not an ore) gets you platinum leaves that npc for ~1700 gil and get anywhere from 8-12 leaves per plant, I do see a few wind clusters though =/.

I believe its 18-21 days (Longer for Archane pot).
I've managed to get four ores from the same mule. It was as simple as Planting on the same day you plan to feed it on, while checking at least once a day (maybe twice). I've heard of 5-6 ores out of 10 pots, which will be my next goal. I went with ice ore btw. Got a mule about to harvest Dark ore/s hopefully. I will post results when i do.
