Since we as a LS are moving forward and getting many new members I've decided to post the rules of the LS for any and all members. Many of these rules I was told when I first joined Rockhak and I have tried to follow them to this day. Please try to do your best to follow them as well.

1. No begging/asking/pleading for gil from fellow LS members. The rest of us have had to farm/craft/hunt NM's/fish or do whatever we could do to make our own gil. We did not have anyone give it to us. Please show the LS and your fellow members respect by working for your gil like the rest of us had to do.

2. No spamming. If you say something and no one responds don't keep saying it to get one. This only makes you look bad. Not everyone in the LS is going to respond to something said. Many may be busy with other things and cannot take the time to respond. No spamming also refers to talking incessantly (without stop). It's fine for you to talk in conversation with other members, but please do not just ramble.

3. Be polite. If you disagree with someone's opinion or view be polite about it. Don't call them names or badmouth them because of their opinion. If you need to discuss the issue and it may become hostile take it to /tell. The LS does not need to know everything about your issues with other LS members. We prefer that you are able to handle the situation by yourself. However, if you need our help you are welcome to ask for it. We as LS sackholders try to do what we can to make the LS a better place. Don't be afraid to ask, the least that we can do is offer advice.

4. No begging for a Power Level (PL). If someone offers to Power Level you then you are more than welcome to take them up on the offer, however please do not beg for someone to PL you. Many of your fellow LS members got where they are today by honest hard work. We did not get PL'd through our lvls, we worked for them. Many people do not have the opportunity to get a PL or may not want one. In all actuality you are hurting yourself by getting a PL. PL'ing inhibits your ability to learn how to do your job effectively and will hurt you in the future.

5. No racially or sexually derogatory comments. The LS is meant to be a place of fun and enjoyment. Derogatory comments toward another race or sex are not welcome. Even such comments as "fag" are not welcome in the LS chat.

6. No discussion of Religion or Politics. These are both very passionate topics for people and it is very easy to get offended when either of these topics are being discussed. As such and to limit offending LS members it's best that we not discuss either of these topics in LS chat. Remember that FFXI is a game and as such we would like to have fun and enjoy it. Getting offended or in an emotionally challenged discussion most times is not considered fun.

7. Represent the LS in a Positive Manner. Respect the LS both in name and in actions. Project a positive image onto the LS at all times when you have it equipped. If you are going to do something that may cause people to look down on you (and the LS) don't do it or at least don't have the pearl equipped when you do so. The same goes for posting on public forums. Do not bring the name of the LS, its members, or its sackholders into the discussion if it will reflect negatively upon us.

Yup, those are the four rules laid down when i became a RH member, and those are the rules i play by. Strong linkshells need a set of guidlines like this to be sort of their Mission statement...speaking of which, we need a mission statement. and who would just ramble in LS chat, come on, seriously, who, no tell me, i don't get it, are you thinking of any in particular, cos who just sits and talks, i know i don't, does someone, i don't remember, its been a while since i've played...

I think it is time that we re-address the rules of the shell.

Now, I realize that I am the very last person who should criticize people for having a foul mouth. However, I think the amount of cursing that goes on in the LS chat has gotten to the point where it really is excessive. Most people curse every now and again, and it isn't the end of the world. But we need to check the reeling off of curses like we're sailors. I understand that sometimes there is frustration and things, but let's try to keep it within reason. I have also heard from a member that there is just too much saying of 'goddamn' on the LS anymore, and I have a tendency to agree. Call me a square or whatever, but I think it's not something we should make a habit of saying, because there are people out there who it offends.

However, there is a much bigger problem regarding language than swearing, and that is lack of respect. Not intentional (I don't think), and not widespread, but a large enough problem I feel it needs adressed. The other day, I logged on and the first thing I saw on the LS was a racial slur. Let me make this clear right here and now. Racial slurs of any kind, regardless of intent, will not be tolerated on the LS, at any time, under any circumstances, EVER. If I see someone using them, they will be given a single warning, and if they continue to use them, I will remove them from the shell. This is something I feel extremely strongly about. There is a very wide demographic of people who play this game, and the LS strives to be welcoming and friendly to them all. If you have a problem with respecting people and feel you must be allowed to use racial slurs, then maybe you should find another LS, because that is not how HA operates.

Along the same vein, I would like to encourage people to stop using terms and words that are demeaning to homosexuals. This is another topic I feel very strongly about. This LS is supposed to be a welcoming place for everyone, and there is a very large homosexual population on this game. They deserve to be respected just like everyone else. Now, I realize lots of people call things 'gay' out of force of habit. I would like to encourage everyone to try to use this as little as possible. I know it is a habit for many people, and I do not expect everyone to stop using it entirely (even though I wish they would), but I would strongly encourage everyone to make their best effort to try to stop using it if they can. Again, this is about being respectful and welcoming to everyone. Along those lines, I will not tolerate the use of the word 'fag' on the LS any longer. It is a tremendously ignorant term, and there is never a compelling reason to use it. If I see people using the term, they will be given a single warning, and if they continue to use it, they will be removed from the LS.

Again, the main rule of this LS is to be respectful of everyone, regardless of race, creed, sexual orientation, etc. If you have a problem with anything I have said in this post, please let me know and I would be happy to discuss it with you.

jk, yeah these rules are good to add along with the old ones, i know i sometimes let "fag" or "gay" slip out but since shash told me about it a while back i've been trying to cut down, on stupid words like that now i use words like hoe and slut.. those good subsitutes?

lol kraion. I've noticed that some people in my "other" shell are rude towards Japanese and Chinese. I find a lot less of that here. I will cut down any offensive things I might say in the future.

Quality post Val. nice to see someone saying whats right for once. Just ruins the good vibe... and yeh theres are loads of homosexuals playing FF, I never figured on **** gamers lol, but I guess thats me being steroptypical ... :/ nice post anyhow, thanks.

Something I would like to add, and I think it should go without saying, DO NOT RECRUIT FOR OTHER SHELLS IN THE LS. Now I am not talking about ppl doing HNMLS or Dynamis inviting shell members to join them nor am I talking about event orientated shell like TheGarrison that meet for a specific purpose. I am talking about ppl starting up their own social shells and trying to get ppl to leave HA for it. I will not tolerate it. You will be kicked.

Stupid comments aren't a problem, offensive ones are. Remember there are no stupid questions but there are alot of inquisitive idiots.
