I figure we have a general LS Rules post, how about one for Sackholders only. This thread is meant to help us become the best sackholders we can be and to give a guideline to the new sackholders as well as some basic tips to follow.
Please post any rules that you would like to add or comments on the ones that I propose.
1. Sackholder's Are Models. As a sackholder you are meant to be one of the best members of the LS. Please try to act as a model to the rest of the LS. This means if you are having a bad day, try not to take it out on the LS (general discussion is fine, but no shouting at other members who didn't do anything wrong).
2. Don't Be Afraid to Not Know. Just because you are a sackholder does not mean that you will know everything. Please don't feel the need to answer every question that a member has. If you don't know something, just let them know. Possibly you can refer the question to someone else or to a website or forum.
3. Take Private Issues to Private. If you have a problem with an individual please send that person a /tell. If the issue is one in which you need another sackholder's help please send /tell to that sackholder. Most issues should be taken care of in private. This shows more respect to the person as well as not blabbing bad news to the world. The person doesn't feel as attacked and does not have to defend him/herself to the whole world then.
4. Understand That You Are Not a God. There will always be things in which you do not know or things which you can learn. I have noticed that even at lvl42 MNK that there are some things I did not know. Had I been closed-minded and thought I was all-perfect, I would not have done the research to learn these things. Give everyone a chance and listen to what he/she has to say.
5. Understand That People Will Disagree With You. Rock made a very good point in another post that even 'tho you may be very knowledgeable about a topic (e.g. Ikonic=MNK, Rock=PLD, Star,Sal,Timm=RDM) not always is someone going to listen to what you suggest. People have to learn from their own mistakes. There is no reason to put someone down because they decide to go a different route than you chose. If someone asks for advice, it's exactly that: advice. They didn't ask you for a direct course of what exactly to do every step of the way. Be willing to recognize that just as you need to learn yourself, so do they.
6. Have Fun. FFXI is a game. Games are meant to be fun. If you find yourself getting burdened down being a sackholder and answering all questions or helping all the time, take a break. Let someone know that you are not in the mood to help or that you need some time for yourself. This is not being selfish, this is taking time for enjoyment. Games are meant to be fun. If FFXI becomes where it is not fun let someone know. We don't want to lose you as a sackholder or even as a LS member. Remember this isn't a job (at least I don't think any of us get paid to play--that would be awesome 'tho).
7. Becoming a Sackholder. Currently we are set at having only 15 Sackholders. This can fluctuate based on need and qualifications.
In order to become a Sackholder the following guidelines must be met:
1. It must be decided that the LS needs more Sackholders or you are replacing a current Sackholder.
2. Potential Sackholders must be nominated by and existing Sackholder.
3. Current Sackholders will vote and a majority vote is required for you to become a Sackholder.
Ways to lose your Sackholder status and all rights:
1. Cause serious harm to the functioning of the LS.
2. Go inactive.
3. At the request of other Sackholders.
4. Request to have Sackholder status removed yourself.
Sackholders may invite anyone they wish to join the shell excluding people who have been kicked previously. It is strongly encouraged for everyone to help grow the shell.
8. Meetings. All meetings should have an exact time, whether a Sackholder meeting or general LS meeting. This prevents people from missing just because they thought "oh, 8pm was late evening, right?". In meetings don't be afraid to bring up a topic. If it's something that's bothering you we need to discuss it and take care of the issue.
9. Events. Try to get support for LS events. By letting the LS know about events that we have planned or would like to do we can get people together and have more fun. I know that most times when I'm doing something with LS members it's a cooler experience. We need to try to get more interest in events such as Eco-Warrior, Garrison, BCNM, Missions, AF, RSE. The more turnout we can have, the more involved people will feel. It gives people a good feeling knowing there are others available to help and have fun with.
10. Kicking Members. Before kicking a member you must get the ok of 2-3 other Sackholders. You cannot live in the same residence or be intimately involved with these 2-3 other sackholders.
Once a member has been kicked post a new thread in the Sackholder section detailing why the person was kicked and who OK'd it.
If a member is kicked and it has not been discussed and OK'd by 2-3 other Sackholders your sack may be removed and other consequences may occur depending on the situation.
Well, that's all I have for now. Please feel free to make comment and add others that you may have.
Edit: Grammar.
Edit: Added rule #10.
Edit: Changed Sackholder qualifications and kicking rules.
Edit: Update to kicking rule.
