Hi all Vael here! I will be running the next AU King run by permission of Ikonic, and I want to go about this a bit differently than the norm, so please read this entire post and reply ONLY if you're serious about helping when I host the next Gulool Ja Ja run on:
June 12th, Sat 5pm cst/6pm est
My plan with this thread is instead of just privately discussing AU King strategies among leaders only and devising a plan just from that I want to use this month to use this post as a "brainstorming thread" so that all members involved can have their input posted and considered as we devise new strategies based off the ideas collected until we find us a winner strat! :) Now while I AM leaving this thread open for opinions, I will be checking this thread weekly and if I see any:
Openly degrading other's opinions
Arguements
Straying off topic
I will immediately copy and save the needed posts and delete the thread and create the strategy myself. I believe in team effort and really want to let everyone be involved in this, so please don't blow it guys!
And with that, here's my input to start things off!
---------------------
Tanks:
As far as Gulool Ja Ja goes, PLD/NIN seems to be the way to go, especially since his -30% HP move CAN be absorned by shadows unlike the others. However instead of 2 tanks, despite the fact I see numerous BG posts saying only 2 I really feel an extra tank would make all the difference in the world. In the name of keeping an open mind though I will be using this month to level my /BLU and /RDM subjobs for PLD as I've heard especially good things about PLD/BLU tanks on heavy DD fights such as these and please request any possible tanks do so too please over the month.
DDs:
One thing noted after asking various DDs how they felt their damage was is that ranged attacks seem to be the way to go on this one so jobs such as RNG, SAM/RNG and COR/RNG seem to be our best source of damage if available of course. For the remaining melee I would like at least 1-2 THF/NIN to constantly run in and TA the tanks as they will be /NIN too and have a harder time with hate while ponging hate between each other. I also ask for THFs because of their ability to spam collaberator on the WHMs and also to rotate Feint Gulool Ja Ja since he's quite evasive being a NIN mob. For this reason DRG and WAR/NIN would be great too for Angon and Tomahawk to help out with the continuance of -evasion and defense on Gulool Ja Ja to speed this fight up as best as we can.
One final note about DDs. I still do believe in TP dump strategy for this, but I feel a WHM mob maybe more beneficial to DDs as its less evasive so TP is easier to get.
Mages:
At least 1 WHM per party needed agreed. WHMs may use Esuna on DD party and mage party as needed by letting them run to the WHM of their party, however for the tanks I want 1 WHM to be focused on erase/viruna/haste of 1 individual tank so that no WHM is overworked and tanks aren't stuck waiting on the timers. It also lets any SCHs we might have focus more on elemental buffing the DD/Mage parties, cures and helixes on Gulool Ja Ja instead of quickly burning MP on trying to debuffga the party.
As far as RDMs go I think 2 RDM/BLU should be more than effecient mob holders so the rest can refresh the party, cure, help DoT Gulool Ja Ja so the three WHMs aren't overworked. BRDs or COR rolls are ideal mage refresh buffers for this fight too.
SMN should not be main refreshers, instead support buffers of the parties by spamming Earthen Ward and Dream Shroud on all parties to enhance defense and magic defense and help cure with Healing Ruby II. As far as DD, I have read SMNs have the most success with Chaotic Strike so we can try this next time, if this doesn't work alternate different attacks to see if any do well. I've also considered at least 1 SMN using Odin at the start once the helper mobs are drawn away just to see if any real damage is done, even 9% from the start is a huge help. If not we will save for Alexander near his 3% mark as planned.
Otherwise I think we have the right idea, it just needs a few tweaks is all. :) Thank you for your time reading this and feel free to toss in any ideas!
