"Would a mage (post 60) really know nothing about hate control or SATA?" I got in a party with 2 nin, 1 blm, 1 whm(me), 1 thf and 1 rng and leveling in East Altep Desert to kill Dhamel, Beetles ...etc. With this setup, probably you can expect I shouldn't need to toss too much cure but {Erase} and -na to those 2 blink tanks. The main job of the Ranger is RDM(64). Somehow he knew nothing about Hate. He broke SATA running several times coz of the standing position & hate control failure. He also subbed Warrior. Finally I as a whm became the SATA partner because my "heavy" cure to the rng generated too much hate. lol The thief blamed him so hard with some "dirty" words. Surely I also felt disappointed on the rng but totally disagree to use rude words on either teammates!! My question to mages: (especially to Star coz he shouldn't have any melee job, hehe...) Q: Would a mage (post 60) really know nothing about hate control or SATA? It drove me to have a feeling that "He bought his account" (I am too bad to have such skeptical thought )

It is possible if he was a lazy RDM that did not see what the other players were doing. I know the basic concept of hate and SATA but not enough to feel comfortable doing it myself. Was the RNG doing too much damage or something?
People could atleast try to tell him what he was doing wrong rather than bitch at him.

Funny scenario #1:1. Thf pulled in a mob. 2. Nin-A provoked the mob 3. Nin-B & Thf ran to the back of the mob 4. Rng stood on the right hand side of the mob5. Rng used {Sharpshot} or {Barrage}6. the mob turned right 90 degree7. SATA failed lol Repeating the last scenario, Nin-B just told the Rng the principle of SATA is to "Line up". Funny scenario #2:1. In the mid of battle and TP > 100% -----> <Standing & face direction> (Nin-A -->) (<--mob) (<-- Nin-B) 2. Thf went to the back of Nin-B and shouted to start Skillchain -----> (Nin-A -->) (<--mob) (<-- Nin-B) (<--Thf) 3. Rng somehow also went to the back of Nin-B ? -----> (Nin-A -->) (<--mob) (<-- Nin-B) (<--Thf) (<--Rng) 4. Rng then fired off his vast dmg weapon skill and drew the mob turned to him >.> -----> (Nin-A -->) (mob-->) (<-- Nin-B) (<--Thf) (<--Rng) 5. Surely SATA failed again lol The Rng can line up this time but went to the wrong end of the line lol Another question on healing, "How to make Cure faster?" I would sometimes need another mage to help for backup healing ; ;

Oh, ok. I see what he was doig wrong. Thx Leesc.
RDM get the job trait Fast Cast which...makes casting time faster! It makes RDM a good backup healer. Other than that I don't know how to make casting faster.

Sounds like the RNG (RDM) was a moron. By Altepa you should have a basic grasp of hate even if you've never played a melee job. I'm assuming that you are lvl 30-36ish if in Altepa. If said RNG has a RDM lvl 64 then he should definitely be familair with SATA enough at least to get out of the way and know not to gain hate before it's been completed. If he doesn't it should be plainly explained exactly as such.
Another thing is the RDM should have been primary healer in at least one pt during his 64 lvls. Most likely that while being such he would have pulled hate due to links, special attacks, accidental curaga, or just plain over-curing. If he has not then he probably played a very gimped RDM, which while may not be the most common does happen.
Personally when I first was of lvl to be participating in SATA I asked for it to be simply explained to me so I would understand without a doubt. After being explained it still took a few tries at it before I had a good grasp on it. When I lvl'd THF myself I fully understood SATA and learned a few more things about it that I did not know from only being a trick partner.
As for speeding up your spell-casting, you can cast Haste on yourself to speed up the timers a small bit (1-4 seconds or so). Fast cast also helps and is lvl 15 RDM.
