After being in a couple of failed xp runs due to timeouts, I thought back on why some runs did fail and it usually fell to one of these reasons. 1) Lights did not come fast enough, whether azure or pearlescent 2) PlayerXX uses a ws, afk's or some other stupid thing at the wrong time. 3) The time chest doesn't drop.
Reason #1 is a problem because that may be a result of #2 or a possible lack of nuke ability, i.e. lack of blm, sch, pup blm, rdm and what not. Reason #2 is a problem because people get fatigued, miss messages, lag, have to walk the baby, or are just plain stupid. Some things you just can't help. Reason #3 is just luck of the draw, can't fix that.
So why not do this instead? Go for ebon lights( increases all lights) by going for ruby lights, using melee Weapon Skill kills.
Reasons to do this. 1) Doesn't hold back your weapon skill happy sams, wars and drks(/nin is the only sj option). meaning faster kills. 2) minimize the need for nukers; obviously you'd still need some magic dmg to get time chests. 3) Augmented gear & items, who doesn't want that? 4) Just go for the fail; Instead of planning for a 4-5 hr xp grind, just plan for 1.5 hr+ to kill as much and as fast as possible and not worry for any reps and telling people they can't kill because they don't have enough lights. With the gold lights, getting to 500xp per mob should not be a problem by the end .
