Well, since I've managed to get Leathercraft, Woodworking, and Cooking all to 60 I decided it's time to get my Clothcraft there as well. Here's a guide to how I was able to do this.
Ikonic's Guide to Clothcraft (lvl 0-60)
I did not keep track of the specifics for the first 5.9 lvls, but here's what I did.
0-2 Grass Threads (Wind Crystal + Yagudo Necklace)
Yagudo Necklaces are easy to farm. Being a low lvl synth you can take some wind crystals with you and synth them in the field. Keep all the Grass Threads you make for later synths.
2-4 Grass Cloth (Earth Crystal + 3 Grass Thread)
Using the Grass Threads from before make Grass Cloth. Once again keep all your results for later synths.
4-11 Hachimaki (Wind Crystal + 2 Grass Cloth)
This stage will hurt. It's the first painful stage of clothcrafting. You can sell these on the AH or NPC them.
4-11 Cotton Thread (Lightning Crystal + 2 Saruta Cotton)
You can also make these from 4-11, but generally the Saruta Cotton is rather expensive. If you happen to have some or are able to farm them easily (can be stolen from Mandragoras in the Sarutabarutas very easily) you can do some of this recipe.
I lvl'd clothcraft from 5.9 to 8.0 making Moccasins (lvl 59 leather, lvl 8 cloth). I didn't know that the cloth requirement was 8 for these and so crafted them and managed to lvl cloth in the process.
Starting at lvl 8.0 I made Cotton Thread (Lightning Crystal + 2 Saruta Cotton). I took this to it's cap of 11.
At 11 I started making Linen Thread (Lightning Crystal + 2 Flax Flower). Get Advanced Image Support for this since it caps at 19. I took this to 15.1.
At 15.1 I switched to Yagado Fletchings (Wind Crystal + 2 Yagado Feather). This caps out at 22 and is very cheap to make. You can farm the feathers if you so desire.
At 26 I switched to Fly Lures (Earth Crystal + Chocobo Feather + Bat Fang + Animal Glue). This stage will hurt a lot. It's quite expensive. Buy the feathers from the chocobo stable and the rest from AH. Most times Bat Fangs are cheaper individually than stacked. Use Advanced Synth Support for this one until lvl 26. This also requires Bonecraft lvl 8 to synth.
From 26.7 to 27.0 I made Fisherman's Tunics (Earth Crystal + Linen Thread + Linen Cloth + Sheep Leather + 3 Cotton Cloth).
At 27.0 I made a pair of Linen Slacks (Earth Crystal + Linen Thread + 3 Linen Cloth) since I had some leftover supplies. This took me to 27.2.
From 27.2 to 28.1 I switched back to Fly Lures.
Once I hit 28.1 I switched to Shinobi-Tabi (Earth Crystal + 2 Cotton Cloth + Grass Thread + Saruta Cotton).
At 34.0 I switched to Wool Cloth (Earth Crystal + 3 Wool Thread). At first this will seem extremely expensive as each stack of Wool Thread is around 17-20K, however the profit you gain from the Wool Cloth is worth it. Also, you will not get the most or fastest skillups with this so expect to have to purchase quite a few stacks of Wool Thread (I'd say around 5-7 stacks per lvl.). I found that crafting this on darksday worked really well.
From 37.0 to 37.5 I made Bird Fletchings (Wind Crystal + 2 Bird Feather) since I had some feathers.
At 37.5 I switched to Velvet Cloth (Earth Crystal + 2 Wool Thread + Silk Thread). This stage is also expensive and painful. I suggest using Advanced Image Support until at least lvl 40.
At 41.7 I switched to Insect Fletchings (Wind Crystal + 2 Insect Wing). This was a welcome change since these are so cheap to craft. Since you are 10+ lvls below the cap for this synth you will need to use Advanced Image Support and try to craft on Earthsday, Windsday, or Lightsday. Get ready for and enjoy some quick and cheap skillups.
At 50.2 I switched to Silk Cloth (Earth Crystal + 3 Silk Thread). With the recent rise in prices for a stack of Silk Threads this will hurt, but you'll still save gil over buying Silk Cloth for your next synth.
When I reached 53.0 I switched to Green Ribbon (Wind Crystal + Silk Cloth). This is a money loser, but seems to be the best option at this lvl. During most of this stage I only crafted on Darksday. Every day I would check San d'Oria, Bastok, and Windurst for individual silk threads so I could save gil and make the Silk Cloth. You can take Green Ribbons to lvl 62.
