Since I'd lvl'd Leathercraft some a long time ago I don't have an exact account of what I did from lvl 0-9.5, however from 9.5 on I'll try to keep track. Leathercrafting is an expensive craft to lvl, unless you have gil to spend on it I'd suggest chosing a cheaper craft or no craft at all.
From lvl 9.5 to 14.8 I made Lizard Cesti. Make sure to use advance image support as the Lizard Cesti caps at 17. A good rule for using advanced image support is whenever the cap lvl is 5 or more use it. Keep every Lizard Cesti you make as you will need them to make Himates (cap at 52), or you can sell them (for a slight profit or a break even and make [or buy] more later).
Starting at 14.8 I switched to Dhalmel Leather. This caps at 21 so be sure to use Advanced Synth Support until lvl 17. I purchased half my Dhalmel Hides and farmed the rest. It's really up to you on this, but I didn't feel like spending 500-800g a pop on hides.
At 20.7 I switched to Sandals. Sandals cap at lvl 29 so use Advanced Image Support until about lvl 24. I only took Sandals to lvl 25.0. Sell the Sandals to a NPC, you'll get more there than from the AH.
At 25 I started on Parchment. You can use Advanced Image Support until if you desire, but I wouldn't from 26 on.
Once you hit 31 switch over to Ram Leather. Use the standard recipe with Windurstian Tea Leaves instead of the Willow Log. There is no need for Advanced Image Support here since the Ram Leather caps at 35. Take Ram Leather all the way to 35.
When I hit 35.0 I switched over to Waistbelts. Doing this I was able to use the Ram Leather that I had just synthed.
Once I hit 43.0 I switched to Ram Mantles. You can try desynthing the result to get back some Wool Thread, but it doesn't always work. Out of 7 tries or so I had 6 failures, so I ended up selling the mantles to a NPC.
At 47.9 I switched to Himantes.
At 50.0 I switched to Moccasins.
Sometime after this I started on Tiger Leather and ended up taking it to 60.0.#nosmileys
