General Guilding Rules

Here's a few tips that apply to all guilds:

1. Craft on the day before the crystal you're using to gain the most skill.

2. Craft items 3-6 lvls above your current lvl for safe synthing and skill ups.

3. Craft on the day of the crystal you're using if you want the best success rates. (Do this especially if you are making items that are very expensive.) Lightning day also works well for this.

4. Always have at least 1 extra stack of crystals for any item you are crafting. You will always lose the crystal in a failed synth (and you will have lots of failed synths).

5. Use Allakhazam (ffxi.allakhazam.com/) and MysteryTour (mysterytour.web.infoseek.co.jp/ffxi/us/) often. They both have loads of useful information.

6. Do your research and do it well. It really blows to have purchased 60k worth of items to notice that you cannot craft the item because it requires another craft skill that you do not have.

7. Take a break. If you are failing often and getting annoyed with the craft, take a break. Go farm or fish or lvl. You can even go for a walk or watch a movie, just take a break. There's no sense in getting mad and tossing all your gil because of a few failures.

8. Enjoy it. Enjoy every successful synth you have. There are many people who do not craft, and they've no idea how much fun it can be. I still remember the first item I signed; it was awesome--the feeling that I made that item and now everyone who sees it will know this. So enjoy your crafting.

9. Share. Share your experience, share your skills, share your products. By sharing these you make crafting more exciting. You allow others to benefit from your skills and knowledge and in return they may be able to provide you with theirs. Helping others with something you know a good deal about can be very rewarding.

good info...i tend to just craft when im bored. when LFG and near an AH, i'll just go buy the stuff to skill up. Cooking is at lvl 17, and it will be getting alot higher soon. But the real question is, can you sign food items? Thanks for the info Ik. isn't there also something like:

You can sign food items, but it's not really worth it (the item gets used and the sign is gone).

Yes, if you want more HQ synths craft on the day opposite the crystal or on darksday.

I'll try to add more as i get the time/chance and remember them.
