First hand experience.
Maat - Old man, can cast any spell a rdm up to level 70 can, can use Hand to Hand weapon skills, namely asuran fists.
What you need
Meds:
Vile Elixer
Vile Exlier+1
Super-ether
Melon pie+1
Yagudo drinks, at least 3-4 of them.
Equipment
Dark staff - The role of dark staff in this fight is not just the added +hmp while resting, but on top of elemental staves increasing the potency of the spell matching the element, they also increase the accuracy of the spell. In this case, the accuracy of sleep landing unresisted.
Wind staff - Stronger aero3, higher chance of going unresisted, always have this on when you cast your nuke.
Ice staff - Like dark staff, this is used to increase the accuracy of a spell you may find yourself to rely on. BIND. greatly helps it land on the mob.
Af body - NEVER cast any sleep, or bind without this thing on!
Af head - Best rdm nuking headgear, lowers recast/cast time on sleeps and binds, as well as nukes. Wear it!
Spider torque or enfeebling torque - +Enfeebling skill greatly helps all your enfeebles stick. In this case, more unresisted sleeps and binds.
basic mp/int/mnd whatever gear. - Generaly you want a nuke setup for this fight, IE. +int, +magic attack bonus, +mp.
Magic skills
Make sure your enfeebling skill is CAPPED - IMPORTANT
Make sure your elemental magic skill is capped - nearly as important.
Macro tips
-Make sure your sleep macro and bind macro always equip your dark and ice staff. save yourself alot of time swapping them in through the menu.
-After your "/ma "spell" <t>" line. . put the command "/recast "Spell Name" This will display a timer once you hit the macro letting you know how many seconds til the spell can be cast again if it is not ready.
-Due to fast cast, you may notice our spells go off before the casting bar gets to 100%, but we tend to not be able to cast the next spell til the animation stops. If you time it right, and you should practice, You can go from one spell to another nearly instantly. This gives you a HUGE advantage. How you do this is, When the cast bar gets to about 80-85% Hit your next spell macro once, no sooner or later, doing it right will cause you to instantly go into the next spell cast regardless of animation.
Strategy
Maat is killed via the Nuke/sleep solo strat. What this is, You first nuke your target, then instantly sleep them and rest. Allowing your sleep recast to be ready again before your repeat, Doing this can let you kill a mob without it touching you.
The second you enter the fight, maat will start buffing up, meaning there is NO time to buff before hand. Outside of the bcnm, Eat your melon pie+1 and rest to full, Have your earth staff equiped, and be ready to sleep maat.
Once you are ready, Enter the bcnm. As soon as you are in, run directly into the battlefield where maat will be waiting, do not hesitate at all, second you can move your char do so. run within range and slap a sleep2 on him. If it is resisted, sleep1 and bind are your backups.
Note:!Maat can and often does use the spell "Blink" if he is given enough time, doing this will cause him to absorb two spells, make two extra macros with the spell stone and aero on them. If as you are running up to maat, see him use the Blink animation, Do not open with sleep. Instead, nuke him with those two macros and absorb his two shadows quickly, then instantly sleep.
After you initialy sleep Maat, proceed to buff up with Shell, stoneskin, blink aquaviel, yagudo drink. Protect isn't very important, but you can do it if you want. Whenever maat gets so much as a single shadow off of your blink, Recast a fresh copy (have to manualy take it off before you recast.)
After you buff up, and rest some mp back, Stand at maximum casting range on the other side of the battlefield, Hit him with bind, then Aero3, As soon as aero3 lands Start casting sleep, Done right, maat won't even make it to you. If he resists, cast sleep one. If that resists, cast bind, run around the battlefield til sleep timer is up and try again.
After you sleep him, bind him, stand at max casting range, and rest for a tic or two of mp, not too long as sleep my wear off. stand up and cast Aero3, Once again sleep the second the spell goes off. When maat uses his 2hr, Chainspell, Sleep him and stand a bit out of casting range. when he wakes, sleep him again. Chainspell lasts 1 minute. You need to wait for it to wear off, Once 1 minute has passed, continue with the sleep nuke.
Vile elixer restores hp and mp instantly.
Vile elixer+1 restores more hp and more mp instantly.
Super ether restores 250mp, it has a small use time, but leaves medicated status. and about 5 seconds after you use you can't cast.
Use your meds as needed, keep yagudo drinks on you, Always have a fresh blink and stoneskin. When you feel comfortable with your mp and your standing, pop chainspell aero3 > sleep1 > aero3 > sleep1 > aero3> sleep2 when you need to convert or just use your meds to recover mp. (don't use super ether during chainspell)
Keep maat at a distance always, blink and stoneskin fresh, wear him down. Always have your AF body, dark staff, af hat, and spider torque on when you cast sleeps.
Don't bother enfeebling him at all.
(Optional depending on budget)
-If you are to only get one HQ staff, Dark (Pluto's) would be the one for this fight, Unresisted sleep = win in this fight, not a higher damage nuke.
