Here, I want to share my monk's experience with all of you. My monk was lvl43 at that time. Lst night, I luckily got invited. Once I joined the party, there was a DRK in the party and blamed the leader why invited a "MONK". The leader just stop the debate by saying "Let's see". At that time, I knew that I must show the flying colors of MONK. The party was PLD+DRK+MNK + BLM+WHM+BRD and camped in the secret room. Every round, I could stored enough TP and used Raging Fists which delivered 300+ damage on average (surely with BRD's Madrigal + Minuet). The BLM even said "I won't worry to keep nuking coz melees can hold the hate." If there was an Water Element outside and the DRK couldn't use poison to pull, this will be my Chi Blast time. With this efficiency, we could keep chaining the mobs very well. Nearly to the final round in secret room, the DRK was accidentally argo by a soldier crawler and all mages ran out of MP. The PLD was nearly dead. At that moment, I prepared myself to receive the "hug of reaper". Then, I used Raging Fists first and followed by the Hundered Fists. The closing was done by a Raging Fists again. Surely, I did it. At that time, all my party members said, Monk's Hundred Fists is the best 2hrs in FFXI and the most important is the DRK said " you give monks a good name ......" I feel happy not for my performance, but ppls' impression on monks can become positive.

That's an awesome story Leesc, congrats! I have to agree, I think MNK have really been building up a good reputation in the game of late. I think people are finally starting to realize that anything a DRK can do, a MNK can do too, if not better. I think inviting a MNK is no longer and act of desperation on the parties part like people used to make it seem. Now if only we could get them to open their eyes a little more for DRG and SAM

As a THF if I'm putting together a pt DRG is the first melee job I look for (not counting the tank). Unfortunately many people are blind to the powers and abilities of various jobs. Having taken a small amout of time lvl'ing some of these jobs has helped me realize their abilities to a point. Now if only others would open their minds to the possibility. I've seen some people who are lvl 70+ but have only lvl'd 3 jobs. Main, subjob, and thf (to 15). These people generally are the ones who we have to work to open their eyes.
