I've been leveling blm during my spare time and I purchased stonega a while back but have not used it yet. I'm afraid of aggroing nearby mobs. So my question is this: is there a special time and place for -ga spells or is there a practical way to use them in an exp party? Is it worth buying them at all?

even though i'm still a n00b blm (only 23) i've mb'd with aeroga a bit, i guess you just gotta be safe when you use it. but if you can try to find a camp where there are not many mobs around to be the most safe.

My advice is do some experiments with {too weak} mobs to test out the circumfrence of the AoE. The only -ga spell i get as a drk is poisonga, and i think i've used it twice (what a freakin useless spell). So give it some tries, see how close a mob is to the mob you cast on when it does or doesn't hit it too. And just use caution. A -ga spell will hit mouch harder than a normal spell on a single target, so use your best judgement in hate control as well. good luck kitty!

I heard from Lok...
At same tier, Stonga is stronger than Stone. Waterga II is stronger than Waterga II....etc.
He told me his priority on spending gil for his blm is Magic Scroll > INT+ gear > MP+ gear. It is painful if you don't have correct elemental magic casted on mobs. Its resistance simply make you cry.
Surely, try to avoid casting -ga magic when there is any other mobs around. To my experience in exp. party, some blm casted smartly in Garliage Citadel and Valley of Sorrow to deal good amount of damage while some silly blm casted -ga magic in 2nd jungle or ball room in CN, resulted to eat death from Lizzy. So, it really depends.
Maybe you can go back West Ronf to test the radius of your -ga magic in order to have a reference.
Edited: one of the advantage of -ga magic is able to eat all shadows of ninja-type mobs.

I didn't think about testing the radius in Ronfare, that is a good idea. It's also good to know that -ga spells are stronger than their single target counterparts. Thanks for the good advice, everyone.

Thanks for the good advice, everyone. The fartherest I got my blm was garbage shitadel and one party i was mbing off a rank 10 smn with fenrir. let's just say me and fenrir did all the damage becuase the rest of the party barely knew how to pull off a SC. I got a bunch of xp.

You should buy -ga magic if you have enough gil, just don't Stonega II. It doesn't worth.
