Hasso and Seigan

I've decided to put up a short guide on the new samurai skills due to a large number of questions in from party members and my friendlist. Please use this guide as a reference only. If anyone can confirm any of this or provide more information on possible and confirmed effects, it will be much appreciated.

Hasso
Description - Grants a bonus to attack speed, accuracy, and Strength when using two-handed weapons.
Obtained - Samurai Lvl 25
Recast time - 1:00
Duration - 5:00

Like it says it increases all stats as mentioned above. This can range anywhere between +3 STR, +3 Acc and +3% Haste to up to +10 STR, +10 Acc and +10% Haste.

This skill is for ALL two-handed weapons. Also I need to confirm if Hasso stacks on itself like abilities such as boost. Proven False - It does not stack with itself, but it will renew the effect. Same for Seigan.

Note: Hasso can not be stacked with Seigan and imposes a +50% recast time on ninjitsu skills and possibly magic and songs.** -**Not confirmed

Seigan
Description - Grants a bonus to Third Eye when using two-handed weapons.
Obtained - Samurai Lvl 35
Recast time - 1:00
Duration - 5:00

Like Hasso, Seigan can be used by ALL two-handed weapons. This ability cuts the recast time for Third Eye in half, taking it to 0:30. Third Eye can also anticipate or counter an attack and still be active, although the chances of that slowly decrease as it remains.

Note: Again, Seigan can not be stacked with Hasso and imposes a +50% recast time on ninjitsu skills and possibly magic and songs.** -**Not confirmed

I can confirm that at 75, Hasso will give +10 STR (I am not level 75, but it gave me +10 at 73 and still does at level 74, so I think it is safe to assume it will do so at level 75 as well).

I can also confirm that with Seigan, Third Eye can counter an attack and remain active. I believe the most attacks I have anticipated with Third Eye and Seigan is 4, but I have seen screenshots with as many as 8. Personally, I have found in my limited experience at level 74 that /NIN still makes for better tanking than Seigan and Third Eye.

It should also be noted that Hasso and Seigan impose a 50% penalty on ninjutsu recast times.

Thanks Val for that, I have also heard that the 50% extra recast time on ninjitsu skills is also effective on magic and songs. Initial Status on Hasso and Hasso stacking still need to be confirmed.

Hasso does not stack with Hasso, nor does it stack with Seigan. Hasso lasts for 5 minutes, and the recast is 1 minute. However, using Hasso while it is already up merely renews the effect rather than adding to it. Also, if you have Hasso up and use Seigan, Seigan will supercede Hasso (effectively cancelling it out).

Again, thanks to Val. Issues that still need to be confirmed is the +50% recast time on magic and songs when using Hasso or Seigan and initial status of Hasso of lvl 25 SAM.

If anyone knows of any other possible or confirmed effects please let me know.

I don't know for certain about the penalty on songs, as I cannot play any, but I can say for sure that there is a 50% recast time penalty on Ninjutsu when using either Hasso or Seigan. I also think that Third Eye does not stack with Utsusemi.

Browsing around again and have found that Seigan imposes double (+100%) recast penalty instead of +50%. This is still yet to be confirmed as this could be a misunderstanding.

I will confirm that Hasso gives a +8 str @lvl 60 not sure about the other stuff tho (i havent pted in about a month and a half) so there it is 2 SAM's erm.... 3 SAM's confirming that Hasso does give a str bonus depending on lvl

I just heard an interesting rumour on Hasso and Seigan. Hand-to-Hand weapons are equipable only in the main hand and not the sub/off hand therefore is Hand-to-Hand considered a 2 handed weapon and compatible with Hasso and Seigan? If this is confirmed this could open up sub job opportunities for PUP and MNK.

H2H is its own classification and is not considered a 1-Handed or 2-Handed weapon. This has been beaten to death on the MNK forums and neither Hasso nor Seigan will work with H2H weapons.

It has been reported that when using Hasso when SAM is subbed that you will only receive bonuses according to the sub job lvl.

Eg.
A 75SAM/37WAR when using Hasso will get +10 to STR, Acc. and Haste%. But a 75WAR/37SAM when using Hasso will get only +5 to STR, Acc. and Haste%
