I say go for it. We have a lot of expertise in a lot of jobs, but to the best of my knowledge, BRD is not currently in our repatoire. Just make sure that the information is overshadowed by the humor ^.^.

Ok! for the class's first lesson we will look at wat a bard is? wat does one do? y do you wanna be one? does anybody else want you to be one? do you have to sing old classics and new or just wat u like? wen is the next kareoke party!!!!

Wat is a bard? a bard is one of song, stories, and entertainment incarnate. The most famous being Shakespear.....but no one cares of ones of past ...or in rl so moving on. Bards in FFXI are THE total support class, one on es own is nothing, we do wat we do through others, making melees hit harder and more accurate, giveing all extra stat bonuses, keeping the parties and mages hp/mp up !!!

Y would anyone wanna be one? y would anyone wanna be backstage and never really causeing any damage , melee or otherwise........well if these aspects bother uto much get outa ma class!!! go ask lady Q and the 3-4 samurai in the ls how it is to whack things with a katanna, and not hit them without madrigal! Being a bard iv found u have alot of freedom and control over grps, espicially with positioning, ha u dont even really need to engage the mob, u wont do much but the songs u sing will make the others do ALOT more ;D

does any want u to be one? well iv seen some regret me goin bard.....i no way to many songs , but yes people like bards, they like them so much that people that dont know y they like bards do, cause er'body else does!

Do u have to sing requests or ur old favs? u can pretty much sing watever u want.....80s rock, punk, hip hop, country, pop, hell u can even go techno with some of the harps (hahah ther was this one time in a jueno tavern.....)

The next keroke party is wen ever u want it to be!!!

OOOOOO YEA, one more thing for u aspiring minstrels can look forward to, the ladies, elvaan, hume, mithra or taru love artists, people who can sing , and comedians so ther are benifitts ^^

Well its the second lesson already! and i see no one did their homework.....come on people go do something artisitic! Ok this lesson will be on Race choices and subjob varieties, Because without my guidance you may very well nd up being a galka Brd/Drg! But wat should u be? Is Galky really that bad? and y would a bard need to be able to jump on things!

Ok lets begin with race....a big choice to say the least.

Taru-Taru-The lil ones are very adept at being brd/mage, they will have the stats and the mp to hold out . they could be back up healers or support ele magic. nuff said! well they look really cute with instruments (Taru dance anyone)

Elvaan-Elfs make good bards as well, In fact i believe they have just as much Cha as humes and Taru. But come on, could u see an elvaanbeing the life of the party? Elfs just eem t hoighty-toighty

Galka-Ok, galks might make mediocre bards at best, but if u chose to be a galka you didnt do it because they're great musicians....you did it cause u wanted to be able to take hits and return them in full force!

Mithra-If u wanna be a seksi bard, then mithra is for u. Mithra are great bards , and could sub mage jobs if wanted (not to the lv of expertise that a taru would tho), but the real advantage would be their agility and dex, making them great sub thieves! And they have great singign voices! Yea ther was that one jam session in front of the Jueno mog houses with that kitty bard.....

Hume-Yeap, i saved the best for last! Humans are the classic bards of old, they've a;ways been the best choice for a bard in games (i.e. Baldurs gate series, and other D&D / Fantasybased games like Neverwinter Nights, Icewinddale, EQ ex ex) We supposedly have the best Cha (I havent seen this maself, for all i know elvaan and taru-taru are equals in Cha) And they can prosper with pretty much any viable subjob (like the mario/middle-men/mediocre chars they are). But the best part is that i am one!

For extra hume bard fun check outthe up and coming Ps2 hack&slash/RPG "A Bard's Tale". From what ve heard its the funniest game since "Escape from Monkey Island".....look for it out some time soon!

SUBJOBS

Heres the honest truth, I do not believe that your subjob as a bard is THAT important! Out of all the classes, the sub matters the least for bard. You will sing the same songs, no other sub will help with Cha, and you will be your awsome support self any way you go with subjob. But some (those who are not bards) will insist that whm sub is the way to go. Well heres a list of personal experiences, thoughts, opinions, and wat ive heard on the different choices.

Warrior-not sure why u would do this? Who wants a bard that can voek and swing a sword?

Monk-Bards do not punch things!although u could get a hp&att boost off this

White Mage- This is the oneThe most sought after, and if u asked anyone they'd tell u this is the one to be. Well not to the Bard King. It could help with back up healing, buffs, and maybe a few debuffs...also be one of the ultimate support class. But to me this just has no style.....

Black Mage- And here it is! my preferedsub. You have no idea of the satisfaction when u use threnody and u and the resident element user use the corresponding elemental magic. Big xplosions.......well xplosions anyway ;D

Red Mage- What?! You couldn't decide between the power of healing and the ability to blow things to hell with explosive force? Then rdm is right up your indecisive ally. a viable, useful bard sub to say the least .

Thief- Hmm, a rougish bard huh? Not to bad of a combo, later on with the additions of steal and backstab. But the most usefull would be the treasure hunter skills, just remember that these to notstack when ther are multiple thieves in the party.

Paladin- Why? just why? really no point...

Dark Knight- Bout the same as with pally......why?

Beastmaster- May make a good solo class (prolly better vice versa)....wouldnt help or hurt in a party atmosphere i guess....

Ranger- Wanna be a bard that can shoot things? dont like getting close up to the fight? then this may work...

Summoner-Ive actually done this b4, liek with bst doesnt help or hurt.....i really just did it for the style factor while in valky, after all your songs are sung, throw out Ifrit to do lil to no dmg

Samurai-...couldnt use a katana,,,,,or get the great tp gains.....

Ninja-heres one i've thought on for a loooong time. My reasoning is if ma subjob doesnt really account for ma ability to do ma job in the party......y not be able to duel wield? wouldnt it look really awsome to duel wield rapiers?? i can jsut see soem of u rolling ur eyes now, but still i think it might not be that bad

Dragoon-....hehe...hahaha.....muwahahahahah....wooo srry, just saw a bard half dragoon, with no wyvern and polearm.

Well that is ebough this lesson...a lil long winded this one has been, but useful i hope ^^. No homework assignment this time.......doubt any of u would do it anyway Good Luck and farewell

does bst not up your Cha?? i thought that was the stat needed for charming mobs. and if so, it would make me think that a /bst would be a pretty decent option, if subjob doesn't matter as much. It would be a boost to your main stat if nothing else.

Yes, BST should up your CHR, but BST (like DRG) doesn't really have much to offer as a subjob. BST can only charm mobs half your lvl then. It really limits the power of BST and makes it somewhat worthless to have as a subjob.

Ooooo Bst does have cha....i forgot completely , sorry bout that but thanks for the assistance ^^.
Bout the Drg part.....im a bit biased against Drgs and Rdms, no real reason just a few fueds with those jobs ;D. And i think if u really wanted to do somethin with Bst, make it ya main, i hear Bst/brd isnt that bad, just one song effect, but still could help.
