Thats right my friends, /SAM is amazing now. I have been doing so expirementing w/the possiblities of /SAM and i thought id post up my results.
First a little backround to the new abilities:
Hasso (lvl 25) as SAM 37 for sub.
Haste+10% (confirmed)
Acc+10 (semi-confirmed)
STR+5 (confirmed)
Must use 2hnd weapon.
Seigan (lvl 35) as SAM 37 for sub.
Enhances "Third Eye" effect. Must use 2hnd weapon.
Zanshin (lvl 20) as SAM 37 for sub.
Attack again if first attack missed.
DoT:
/WAR
High DoT because of zerk and double attack. Hate is normally able to be manageable by tank and other DD's in pt so not a problem.
/NIN
Low DoT because no way to add attack or hit faster. Safes way to play as DRK.
/SAM
DoT is now able to keep up /WAR. DoT is not quite as high as /WAR but very close and kicks the shit outta /NIN. Thanks to the 10% haste and w/the Walahara Turban (5% haste) its a very noticable difference that helps alot. The +10 acc is a very nice bonus that in combo w/sushi makes you a hitting machine w/out any worrys. Hate is able to be manged by tank fine.
WS damage:
/WAR
Highest WS damage from all 3 choices. Downfall is there is no way to help keep yourself alive. WS normally result in death w/a NIN tank.
/NIN
Moderate WS damage. Numbers still up there but nothing spectacular. If hate is pulled shadows easily desperse it.
/SAM
WS damage is greatly higher than /NIN but lower than /WAR. Hate is normally pulled but is no longer a problem. Use Seigan and Third Eye and all is well. I have been able to anticapate 5 hits, able to counter up 3 times, parry attacks alot more and my evasion overall is much higher w/these 2 up.
Summary
/SAM is an awesome choice for TP burn type parties. It can keep you alive in desperate situations w/out having to sacrifce much attack and DoT. As /WAR guillotines were 800-1.3k easy. As /SAM they were 600-1000. Though the numbers are lower, the TP return is higher. I would get 18 TP back as /WAR, but as /SAM I get 20 TP back. Meditate and Absorb-TP makes DRK a TP machine and much easier to spam guillotines to make up for lower numbers. Also to gain 100% TP as /WAR it took 7-8 hits, as /SAM it takes 6-7 hits.
So my thoughts on sub recommendation:
Level 1-65: /WAR
Level 66 until TP parties: /THF
TP burns below 70: /WAR, /NIN (depends on tank)
TP burns above 70: /WAR, /NIN, /SAM (depends on tank)
It also depends on tank alot. If its a NIN tank then deffinetly /SAM or /NIN to save your ass when you pull hate. If its a badass PLD tank (Stilgar) then you can safely go /WAR for maximum damage. Its all up to you though, play the game how you like I'm just simply showing my results and my opinion on /SAM.
P.S. If you are curious as why I haven't mentioned /THF it is because /THF only applies to non-TP burn pts. /THF only works w/Great Sword for SATA Spinning Slash which is NOT effective in TP burn, its better in HNM situations. Also before anyone askes "Why not /THF for SATA Guillotine?" SATA does NOT work on Guillotine, any smart DRK will tell you this.
