Hey, I know a lot of people have a mule or mules, and I figured out a way to get 120 storage spaces on each mule, for only about 8-10k per mule.
Pretty much everyone is aware of the mog safe expansion quests, and the Gobbiebag quests. Currently on Val I have done MH1 and Gobbiebags I-V. This gives me 115 spaces on Val, and it costs me probably 200k or so total, if not more.
I now have 120 spaces on each mule, and it cost me only 8-10k and some time. The way to do this is to travel out to Rabao, and buy 40 Water Jugs for each of your mules. The Goblin merchant Scamplix sells them, and they were 190 each for me. Each Water Jug has Storage of 2, so while it takes up 1 slot in your Mog Safe, it creates 2 slots worth of storage. 40 is the most you can have, and when you get 40, you have 80 storage slots, 10 mog safe slots leftover, and 30 slots in your pack, for 120 total. All for the cost of 40 cheap water jugs.
It DOES take some time to send 40 Water Jugs to each mule through the mail, but it isn't too terrible, and I would say well worth it to save 190k on Mog Safe Expansions and Gobbiebags.
The one large catch is that you can only access Storage from your home town. So if you play your mules, it might not always be the best idea, because you won't be able to get at most of your stuff from any other city than your home city. But if your mule is strictly a mule, it's a nice cheap way to get yourself 40 slots for about 200 per slot.
