..and misadventures.
Some of you were there for this. Those that were will have a good laugh.
For those that weren't, the story goes something like this..
We put together a linkshell Xp/merit party for Caedarva Mire. Things are moving right along, and I (as thf) am pulling the mobs to camp. Well after punishing some poor mob, I take off into the wilds of the mire to lure some hapless imp or jnun back to our camp when behold, a NM lamia unclaimed, stands before me. Well keeping with my bold (and somewhat reckless style of play) I don't ask questions, I just attempt to claim the mob.
[red] /ra <t> [/red]
Lamia # 27 take off like a bullet, chasing some other peeps. Still, not to be out done, I take off after it, and continue to attempt to claim, hitting it with my daggers as quickly as I could.
[red] /ja "Sneak Attack" <me> [/red]
That did it. Red Name. Pissed on Lamia NM on me. I call to the pt to come to me, and I begin to solo the mob. She is pretty tough and I am falling fast, my friends and pt members arrive, as I am defeated, just in time to continue the battle. Then it happens.

Lamia # 27 Charms our entire party. OH SHIT. She then turns her attention to some poor, unsuspecting group xping nearby. Sadly, our guys mercilessly destroyed them. It was chaos everywhere. In the end there was many a life lost. I don't recall if the lamis was even defeated or not, but that series of events were quite possibly the funniest thing I have even seen in my years on FFXI.
If only I wasn't dead, I'd have screens of all the action.

at the clear water pool in the "XP" area of caedarva. My PT took this out for one of our members after we were done exping we all agreed to try. (we were lvl 70ish at the time) Charmed a few ppl so we slept them, I think we lost one person in the end but we took her down.
