Carbuncle's just one of the lesser critters that shows up in different fiction that draws sources from mythology. The Final Fantasy series has been using him since... ... that's a trivia question somewhere I think.. he's in every game but one... now two, if you count 12. ... anyway, Carbuncle's even mentioned in Shakespeare.. I think it's the Tempest.. maybe King Lear. ... though, my favorite Carby is the one from XI cuz he's cute and kinda badass.. the one from Tactics looks pretty cool too.
